IndiGo, India’s leading low-cost airline, encountered a significant network outage on Saturday, leading to widespread disruptions in flight operations and ground services nationwide.

Passengers found themselves stranded at various airports due to a technical glitch that prevented them from boarding flights or making ticket bookings, resulting in extensive delays.

One frustrated traveler took to X, the social media platform, to voice concerns, stating, “It’s good to invest in new aircrafts but how about improving the ground services (at Bangalore T1 for the last one hour). Additional counters required, disturbing to see old people suffering. @DGCAIndia please notice.”

Another user remarked, “Technical glitch at @IndiGo6E. Airport looks like a railway station.”

In response to the situation, IndiGo released a statement confirming they were facing a temporary system slowdown affecting their website and booking operations.

The airline acknowledged, “As a result, customers may face increased wait times, including slower check-ins and longer queues at the airport.”

IndiGo Assures Assistance For Affected Passengers

IndiGo assured customers that its airport teams actively assisted affected passengers to ensure a smoother travel experience.

“Be assured, we are working diligently to restore stability and normalcy as quickly as possible,” the airline added, expressing regret for the inconvenience and appreciation for the patience shown by passengers during this time.

Reports from passengers highlighted the chaos, with one user stating, “@IndiGo6E bad situation at Lucknow too. Flight 6E2380 to Delhi was delayed by more than one hour. Passengers waiting inside aircraft.”

Another user highlighted inconsistencies in flight availability on the booking platform, noting that flights sometimes appeared unavailable but would reappear after refreshing the page.

Amidst these challenges, domestic air traffic in India showed a year-on-year increase of 6%, totaling 13.1 million passengers in August.

IndiGo maintained its dominance in the market, increasing its share by 40 basis points to 62.4%, according to recent reports.
