The government has started the process of banning over 100 Chinese websites that scam Indians about investments.
This is the latest effort to combat financial fraud orchestrated by Chinese nationals.
Sources claim that the Ministry of Home Affairs requested that the websites be blocked in a letter to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
Describing nearly 250 Chinese apps as “prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of the state and public order”, the government has ordered to ban them in the last few years.
Apps with millions of downloads, such as TikTok, Xender, Shein, and Camscanner, were popular in India.
The government agencies claimed that these applications were collecting private user information and requesting necessary permissions. Servers in the adversarial country are allegedly receiving and misusing the obtained data.
Battlegrounds Mobile India, also known as BGMI, the Indian version of PUBG Mobile, was recently taken down from both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
In less than a year, the battle royale game in India attracted over 100 million users.
