India Stands For Respecting Sovereignty: Modi On China

PM Narendra Modi stated on Saturday that India is determined to defending its sovereignty and integrity while pursuing a peaceful resolution of maritime issues based on international law in response to China’s military buildup in the South China Sea and the East China Sea.

In an interview with the Japanese newspaper ‘Yomiuri Shimbun’, Modi, during his visit to Hiroshima to attend the G7 summit, said the G7 and G20 summits are crucial platforms for global cooperation. “As the G20 chair, I will represent the perspectives and priorities of the Global South at the G7 Summit,” Modi said.

When asked how India would respond to China’s military buildup in the South and East China Seas, as well as the escalating hostilities in the Taiwan Strait, Modi responded, “India stands for respecting sovereignty, peaceful resolution of disputes, and adherence to international law.”

He stated that India is dedicated to upholding its sovereignty and integrity and advocating the peaceful settlement of maritime disputes in accordance with international law.

In a demonstration of its strategy, Modi claimed that India and Bangladesh had successfully negotiated their sea and land borders.

When asked about his thoughts on the escalating rivalries among major powers and how India will cooperate with them to achieve world peace and stability, the prime minister stated that the developing world is disproportionately affected by problems like the Covid-19 pandemic, supply chain disruptions, terrorism, and climate change.
