A tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, where someone fatally shot the Imam of a mosque in Bhensia village, Moradabad.

The victim, identified as Maulana Akram, had been serving as the Imam of the local mosque for the past 15 years.

The assailants reportedly called him out of his house at 4 AM and shot him dead as he stepped outside.

According to reports, Maulana Akram, a resident of Chaupura village in Rampur, was asleep when he received the call.

The assailants, apparently known to the deceased, first lured him outside and then fatally shot him at point-blank range.

The Imam succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

The police, upon receiving information about the incident, promptly arrived at the scene.

A 12-bore shotgun was found near the victim’s body.

As part of their investigation, the police are questioning the Imam’s wife to gather any potential leads.

Jabbar, the village head expressed shock over the incident, stating that no prior disputes involving Maulana Akram had been reported.

Meanwhile, the motive behind the attack remains unclear, prompting concerns over the safety of religious leaders in the region.

The Katghar police spokesperson confirmed that the body is being sent for post-mortem examination, and additional security forces have been deployed in the village to prevent any escalation of tension.
