IAF Chief Reveals Pakistan Sought Ceasefire After Loss Of F-16 & J-17 Jets In Operation Sindoor

During the 93rd Air Force Day celebrations in New Delhi, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh revealed that India’s Operation Sindoor inflicted severe damage on Pakistan’s air power, destroying F-16 and J-17 fighter jets and an AEW&C aircraft in a four-day confrontation.

He stated that India’s air operations demonstrated overwhelming superiority, forcing Pakistan to request a ceasefire.

Singh further confirmed that Indian forces carried out multiple long-range strikes with high precision, eliminating critical targets and neutralising terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Operation Sindoor, launched on 7 May in response to the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April, saw the Indian Air Force demolish nine terror camps and eliminate over 100 terrorists.

The IAF chief emphasised that the mission achieved its objectives swiftly and decisively.

“In Operation Sindoor, the terrorists paid for their crimes. Our strikes across 300 km were accurate and effective. Once our objectives were achieved, Pakistan asked for a ceasefire,” Singh said.

He also highlighted the success of India’s air defence systems in intercepting every enemy projectile and drone, ensuring the complete protection of Indian assets.

Pakistan’s Propaganda Rejected

Addressing media reports from Pakistan claiming Indian aircraft losses, the IAF chief dismissed them as ‘false propaganda’ aimed at misleading the Pakistani public.

He reaffirmed that Indian jets remained unharmed during the operation, and India’s robust air strategy maintained total control throughout the engagement.

Singh said India’s swift and targeted response showcased its capability to conduct precision operations without escalation.

“We terminated hostilities once our mission was accomplished. The world can learn from our disciplined and strategic approach,” he added.

Looking ahead, the Air Chief Marshal emphasised the need to prepare India’s Armed Forces for future warfare, which he described as ‘vastly different’ from present confrontations.

He is implementing a comprehensive modernisation roadmap up to 2047 to strengthen capabilities across domains.

Singh further reaffirmed India’s commitment to maintaining strategic dominance, technological advancement, and operational readiness to safeguard national security.

Operation Sindoor marked a defining moment in India’s air combat history, combining precision, discipline, and technological prowess.

Moreover, the operation not only neutralised terrorist threats but also reinforced India’s position as a regional air power, compelling Pakistan to seek peace after suffering significant losses.
