The National Medical Council (NMC) has cancelled the registrations of three doctors accused in the deadly car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station, barring them from practising medicine until further orders.
The November 10 explosion killed 12 people and injured several others, triggering nationwide alarm and an intensive multi-agency investigation.
The NMC issued the directive after an FIR under the UAPA named Dr Muzaffar Ahmad, Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather, and Dr Muzamil Shakeel.
The cancellation took effect immediately. Investigators link the three doctors to the Faridabad terror module accused of planning and executing the blast.
Dr Muzamil Shakeel and Dr Adeel Rather remain in Jammu & Kashmir Police custody along with another suspect, Dr Shaheen. Authorities suspect that Dr Muzaffar fled India in August.
Their alleged involvement surfaced after the Srinagar Police registered an FIR on October 19, followed by the recovery of evidence reportedly connecting them to the terror conspiracy.
NMC Secretary (In-Charge) Rajiv Sharma stated in his order that the conduct of the three doctors violates the standards of ethical propriety and integrity expected in the medical profession. He added that their actions undermine the public trust placed in medical practitioners.
The order cited violations under the Indian Medical Council (Professional Conduct, Etiquette and Ethics) Regulations, 2002.
The Jammu & Kashmir Medical Council acted on the findings and revoked the registrations of the three doctors.
It also instructed officials to remove their names from the Register of Medical Practitioners immediately.
The council stated clearly that the accused doctors cannot practise medicine or hold any medical post until further notice.
The NMC acted on the state council’s decision and ordered the removal of their names from the Indian Medical Register (IMR).
It also directed their immediate removal from the National Medical Register (NMR).
Authorities have reportedly taken similar action against Dr Shaheen Saeed, who is registered with the Uttar Pradesh Medical Council. Officials are still awaiting formal confirmation of this move.
The cancellations mark a rare and severe action by medical regulators. They underscore the gravity of the allegations and the intensity of the ongoing Red Fort blast investigation.
