Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, the head of the Punjab Congress, claimed on Saturday that he experienced “one of the most horrifying experiences” when flying on an IndiGo Airline flight from Chandigarh to Jaipur.

Warring claimed that the passengers had to “suffer” since the air conditioning on the flight had malfunctioned from the very beginning. He requested the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and the Airports Authority of India to punish the airline severely in order to prevent similar occurrences from occurring in the future.

“Today, on the flight 6E7261 operated by @IndiGo6E from Chandigarh to Jaipur, I had one of the most dreadful experiences. We had to wait for approximately 10 to 15 minutes in the sweltering sun in the line, and to our horror, when we got on the plane, the ACs didn’t function, so the airplane took off without them! All of the passengers were made to “Suffer” during the flight since the AC was turned off from takeoff until landing, according to a post by Warring on X (now Twitter).

“Throughout the flight, no one addressed the major concern. In fact, the air hostess ‘generously’ gave the passengers tissue papers to wipe away their perspiration. Women and children were among the majority of restless and disturbed passengers. It was clearly a major technical issue but the authorities concerned just wanted to mince money that is why the health and comfort of the passengers was put at stake,” he added.

A video of the incident was also posted by the Congress leader. The passengers can be seen in the video fanning themselves with tissues and scraps of paper.

The IndiGo Airline has been in the limelight for passenger complaints before. A passenger aboard an IndiGo trip from Delhi to Kolkata in 2018 claimed to have suffocated as a result of the AC system malfunctioning in the aircraft.
