Union Home Minister Amit Shah has pledged to avenge the Pahalgam massacre, promising to bring to justice every individual involved in the deadly terrorist attack on April 22 in Jammu and Kashmir.
The assault resulted in the deaths of 26 tourists, including one Nepali national, in Baisaran Valley, Pahalgam.
Addressing an event in Assam, HM Shah condemned the attack as a ‘cowardly act’ and assured that the perpetrators would face the ‘harshest response’ from Indian security forces.
He emphasised that the government would not compromise on security and would relentlessly pursue those responsible.
Shah stated, “We will take revenge on all terrorists.”
The Home Minister reiterated the government’s firm resolve to dismantle terrorist networks both within and outside the country.
He highlighted that India has the support of the international community in its fight against terrorism.
Shah affirmed, “It is our resolve to uproot terrorism from every inch of this country, and it will be accomplished.”
The terrorists, believed to be associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba, segregated tourists based on religion before opening fire.
Reports indicate that the attackers asked victims to recite Islamic verses to identify their faith.
The incident has drawn widespread condemnation and heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.
The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres condemned the attack, emphasising that such acts against civilians are unacceptable under any circumstances.
India has accused Pakistan-based groups of complicity in the attack, while Pakistan has denied involvement and called for a neutral investigation.
HM Amit Shah’s statements underscore the government’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring justice for the victims of the Pahalgam attack.
The international community’s support remains crucial as India continues its efforts to address and resolve the situation.
