In a significant move following his recent resignation, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will officially vacate his residence at 6 Flagstaff Road on Friday.
Kejriwal has lived in the Civil Lines area since 2015, following his ascent to the chief ministerial position.
Kejriwal, the National Convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), is likely to relocate with his family, including his elderly parents, to a bungalow near the party’s headquarters.
This property originally belonged to AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab, Ashok Mittal.
At a press conference, AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj confirmed the relocation, stating, “Kejriwal will move into 5, Ferozeshah Road residence of AAP MP from Punjab Ashok Mittal on Friday.”
In a remarkable show of solidarity, various party officials, including MPs, MLAs, and councillors, offered their homes to support Kejriwal during this transition.
Additionally, citizens also extended their hospitality, offering their residences irrespective of political affiliations or economic status.
Kejriwal’s journey in public office began when he first took on the role of Delhi’s Chief Minister in 2013, initially residing at Tilak Lane.
Following his successful re-election in 2015, he moved to the official CM residence at 6 Flagstaff Road.
While settling into his new home in New Delhi, which is also his Assembly constituency, Kejriwal will be actively managing the AAP’s campaign strategies for the upcoming Assembly elections in Delhi and other states.
Meanwhile, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has also made a move, relocating from his AB-17 bungalow on Mathura Road to a residence on Rajendra Prasad Road.
This property was previously assigned to him but is now the official residence of AAP Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh.
