Fan’s Murder Case Involving Actor Darshan Nears Conclusion, Says Bengaluru Police Commissioner

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayananda announced on Friday that the investigation into the murder of fan Renukaswamy, involving Kannada superstar Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and 15 others, is approaching its final stages.

At a press conference, Commissioner Dayananda reported that substantial evidence, including oral, circumstantial, and technical data, has been gathered and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Bengaluru. Of this evidence, approximately 70 percent of the reports have already been received. Evidence related to electronic gadgets and devices has been forwarded to the Hyderabad Central Forensic Science Laboratory, with reports expected soon.

The Commissioner added, “Once we receive all the reports, we will seek further clarifications from witnesses and prepare the final report or charge sheet for the court.”

Regarding the evidence status, he noted that while some forensic reports have arrived, others are still pending. The Hyderabad FSL’s reports on electronic devices are awaited.

The brutal murder occurred on June 8, when Renukaswamy was abducted from his hometown, Chitradurga, and brought to Bengaluru. There, he was confined, tortured, and eventually murdered. His body was discarded in a canal and discovered by security personnel at a private apartment, who saw the body being dragged by dogs.

Renukaswamy, who left behind elderly parents, a pregnant wife, and a sister, was targeted after sending obscene messages to Pavithra Gowda. During the investigation, four suspects surrendered and confessed to the murder over a financial dispute.

Actor Darshan was arrested in Mysuru on June 11, while Pavithra Gowda and some of Darshan’s associates were apprehended in Bengaluru. All suspects, including Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and the 15 others, are currently held in Parappana Agrahara Central Jail. The court has extended their judicial custody until August 28.
