An eye surgeon from GSVM Medical College, Kanpur, has been transferred following allegations of indecent behavior towards a female junior resident doctor. The action was taken on the direct orders of Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak. Disciplinary action has also been recommended against the surgeon.
Dr. Kumar Neeloppal Katiyar, the accused eye surgeon from Ursula Hospital, Kanpur, was transferred to Ballia District Hospital. This decision came after the resident doctor filed a written complaint about his indecent conduct. Following Deputy CM Pathak’s intervention, an inquiry committee has been recommended to investigate the surgeon’s behavior. The Principal Secretary has been directed to appoint the Divisional Additional Director of Medical, Health, and Family Welfare as the investigating officer.
Deputy CM Pathak expressed strong displeasure over reports of indecent behavior at Ursula Hospital and instructed the Director to investigate the entire matter. He also sought explanations for the lack of control over the situation. Additionally, issues related to irregularities in CT scan tests at Baghpat District Hospital and mismanagement at Prayagraj’s Swaroop Rani Medical College are under investigation. Pathak has called for reports within a week, emphasizing that any incidents tarnishing the department’s image will result in strict action.
