Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh held discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Monday. During the meeting, Singh addressed a range of issues concerning Punjab, particularly those affecting farmers.

Singh expressed optimism that the ongoing farmers’ issues would soon find resolution to the satisfaction of all parties involved. He emphasized the need for constructive dialogue and concerted efforts to address the concerns raised by the farming community.

Accompanying Singh was his daughter and Punjab BJP Mahila Morcha chief, Jai Inder Kaur. Their presence underscored the collaborative approach taken to address the challenges faced by the state.

However, farmer unions, persistent in their demand for legislation guaranteeing Minimum Support Price (MSP), remained steadfast in their rejection of the government’s proposal. Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, speaking to the media on Monday, reiterated the unions’ stance following deliberations on the government’s offer.

Dallewal emphasized that without a legal assurance of MSP, farmers across the nation would continue to face exploitation, a scenario deemed unacceptable by the protesting unions. Their stance reflects a broader sentiment within the farming community regarding the necessity of legislative safeguards for their livelihoods.
