On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised ISRO after the successful launch of the GSLV-F17 rocket carrying the EOS-05 Earth observation satellite, calling the mission a proud achievement for India.
In a post on X, PM Modi said the launch demonstrated ISRO’s technological expertise, innovation and expanding capabilities. He further highlighted the growing collaboration between ISRO and Indian industry, saying it was strengthening the country’s space programme and widening its reach across the space ecosystem.

The GSLV-F17 lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, at 02:55 AM IST on Friday.
The pre-dawn mission successfully placed EOS-05 into its designated sub-geosynchronous transfer orbit.
ISRO Chairman Dr V Narayanan said the mission achieved its objective, with the rocket precisely injecting the satellite into its intended orbit.
Mission Director Thomas Kurian described the launch as an important milestone for the GSLV programme. He further said it was the 19th GSLV flight and carried a specially configured satellite designed for near-real-time Earth imaging.
Kurian said EOS-05 is the heaviest satellite the GSLV has placed into a geosynchronous transfer or sub-GTO orbit. He credited the outcome to years of preparation and the efforts of scientists, engineers and other teams.
EOS-05 will enhance India’s Earth observation capabilities and provide a continuous view of the country from nearly 36,000 km above Earth.
The GSLV-F17 stands 51.7 metres tall and has a liftoff mass of around 420.5 tonnes.
Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh welcomed the launch, saying India’s space programme continues to reach new milestones. He described EOS-05 as a state-of-the-art satellite capable of imaging in visible, infrared, multispectral and hyperspectral bands.
