A Delhi court has granted two-hour parole custody to Engineer Rashid, the MP-elect from Baramulla, to facilitate his swearing-in as a member of the Lok Sabha.
Engineer Rashid, currently held in Delhi’s Tihar Jail in connection with a money laundering case linked to terror funding, sought interim bail or parole custody for this purpose.
Engineer Rashid secured a decisive victory in the Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency, defeating National Conference Vice President and former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah by a significant margin exceeding 2 lakh votes.
Rashid’s request for interim bail or parole custody was deliberate upon in the Patiala House court.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA), involved in his case, did not oppose his participation in the swearing-in ceremony but proposed restrictions, including a prohibition on media interactions.
