Home Minister Amit Shah’s helicopter underwent an inspection by Election Commission officials on Friday during his campaign in Hingoli, Maharashtra. Officials also checked the luggage on board, adhering to established election protocols.

Amit Shah personally shared the details of the inspection on the social media platform X, posting a video of the event. The footage shows Election Commission officials inspecting the helicopter and luggage soon after it landed in Hingoli.
Commitment to Fair Elections
In his post, Shah emphasized the BJP’s commitment to maintaining fair elections. He wrote, “Today during the election campaign in Hingoli Assembly of Maharashtra, my helicopter was inspected by Election Commission officials. BJP believes in fair elections and a healthy election system and follows all the rules made by the Election Commission.”

He urged all citizens to support the electoral process, stating, “We all should contribute to a healthy election system and fulfill our duties in keeping India the strongest democracy in the world.”
Inspection Sparks Debate
The inspection comes amid growing political debate over the Election Commission’s procedures. Earlier, the Shiv Sena (UBT) had raised concerns after Uddhav Thackeray’s helicopter was similarly searched.

Opposition leaders questioned whether top BJP leaders, including Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, would face similar inspections.
EC Clarifies Protocols
The Election Commission clarified its policies, stressing that the checks are part of routine procedures to ensure transparency during elections. Following the controversy, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, also a BJP leader, had his helicopter and luggage inspected as well.
