ED Raids TMC Leader Shahjahan Sheikh’s Residence Again With Tight Security After Mob Attack

Enforcement Directorate team arrived at home of Trinamool Congress leader Shahjahan Sheikh at Sandeshkhali, West Bengal to conduct new raids over the alleged ration distribution scam. The TMC leader is currently on run.

A troop of CRPF followed the central agency. Over twenty-four automobiles have arrived at Shahjahan’s home. After the attack on ED, local police have been deployed to conduct the raid smoothly.

On January 5, while traveling to Shahjahan’s house for raids, a mob in Sandeskhali, North 24 Parganas, attacked several officials of the Enforcement Directorate. The officials’ cars and the military vehicles attacked by more than 200 people. The officials’ cars were also vandalized by the mob.

In this case, up to four persons have been taken into custody this far. They were all apprehended in the North 24 Parganas town of Basirhat. Police looked over the attack’s surveillance footage before picking them up.

Regarding the event, the Bengal Police had filed three FIRs, one of which was based on a complaint from the locals alleging that the personnel from the Enforcement Directorate were causing disturbances in the region. Afterwards, the police’s inquiry against the officials of the probe agency was put on hold till March 31 by the Calcutta High Court.
