ED arrests Lalu Yadav’s close friend businessman Amit Katyal over Land For Job Scam

ED has arrested businessman Amit Katyal, close to RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, in the land-for-job scam. It is told that summons were first sent to Katyal, who is very close to Lalu and Tejashwi, but no response came from him. Katyal was trying to mislead the investigating agency for about 2 months. Now ED has arrested Amit in the case. After the arrest, ED presented businessman Katyal in Rouse Avenue Court. The CBI had in July included the name of AK Info Systems as an accused in the land-for-jobs case.

Amit Katyal, was arrested in the land-for-job scam case, and his company is also under the scanner of CBI along with ED. CBI has also filed charge sheet against former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, former Bihar CM Rabri Devi and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav in the scam. At the same time, ED has alleged money laundering of Rs 600 crore.

Katyal is the promoter of AK Info System

Amit Katyal is the promoter of AK Info System. ED presented Amit Katyal in the court of MM Justice Bindu. The office of AK Info System Company runs from Tejashwi Yadav’s NFC house in Delhi. ED said that two chargesheets have been filed in the CBI case. Investigation is going on in the case, 7 lands have been transferred in the case, these 7 lands are the proceeds of crime.

CBI accused AK Info System for the crime.  ED said that Lalu Yadav and his family got 7 lands and were gave jobs in exchange of land. ED said that the land acquired by AK Info System was transferred to Lalu Yadav’s family, later the company was taken over through share transfer.

ED asked for 14 days custody

ED demanded 14 days police custody of Amit Katyal. In the court, as per ED  influential people are involved in the case. ED said that Amit Katyal has been made to confront other people in the case. Katyal helped Lalu family in money laundering. ED said that even after issuing summons, Katyal did not join the investigation. Amit Katyal had challenged it in the High Court to avoid the summons, which was rejected by the court.

ED said that it had issued summons 11 times, but did not participate in the investigation 5 times. Amit’s lawyer said that on November 3, the High Court had refused to grant me relief from arrest and said that there was no possibility of arrest. Amit’s lawyer said that his name is not in the ECIR, whenever the summons were issued, Amit joined the investigation. Amit’s lawyer said that ground of arrest was not given even at the airport.

He was taken to ED headquarters and then arrested there late at night. Amit’s lawyer said that the court will have to see what happened while going from the airport to the ED headquarters that Amit was arrested.
