Priyanka Gandhi
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the general secretary of the Congress, received a show-cause notice from the Election Commission on Tuesday for allegedly making “unverified and false statements” about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Bharatiya Janata Party leaders Hardeep Singh Puri, Anil Baluni, and Om Pathak lodged a complaint, which prompted the action.
They said that Priyanka Gandhi had made a “baseless and false” allegation on the privatization of public sector undertakings (PSUs) by the Narendra Modi government.
Vadra had reportedly said that Prime Minister Modi had given PSU Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) away “to his industrialist friends” during a public rally at Madhya Pradesh’s Sanwer Assembly Constituency.

“It has been alleged that while addressing a public rally at Sanwer Assembly Constituency in Madhya Pradesh, you have made unverified and false statements in respect of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi that have the potential to mislead the public and tarnish the image of the Prime Minister,” the poll body said.
The Congresswoman is to respond to the poll panel’s question by Thursday at 8 p.m. The incident occurs just hours after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) received a notice from the poll commission about alleged derogatory, offensive, and slanderous remarks made on social media about Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The election panel said that on November 10, it got a complaint from the BJP over posts made by the AAP on X, a previous Twitter account. The posts, according to the saffron party, depicted Prime Minister Modi in a “disparaging, insulting, and defamatory” manner with “scurrilous and malicious intent.”
