President Droupadi Murmu extended her heartfelt greetings to the people of Uttarakhand on the 25th anniversary of the state’s foundation.
Referring to Uttarakhand as Devbhoomi—the Land of Gods—she lauded its unmatched contribution to India’s ‘glorious spiritual and cultural journey’.
In a message shared on X, President Murmu said, “On this historic occasion of the silver jubilee of the state’s formation, I extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all the residents of the heroic Devbhoomi Uttarakhand.”
She further added that over the past 25 years, the hardworking and humble people of the state have achieved ‘new dimensions of modern development’, and she wished them a bright and prosperous future.
Carved out of Uttar Pradesh on 9 November 2000, Uttarakhand became India’s 27th state.
Moreover, since its creation, the state has emerged as a model of balanced growth—preserving its rich heritage while embracing modernity and sustainable progress.
Marking the milestone, several national leaders celebrated Uttarakhand’s achievements and expressed their best wishes for continued progress.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also conveyed his greetings to the people of the state, praising Uttarakhand’s strides in development and tourism.
“On the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Uttarakhand, I extend my heartfelt best wishes to all my brothers and sisters of the state. Nestled in the lap of nature, our Devbhoomi is today gaining a new pace of progress in every field, along with tourism,” he wrote on X.
He wished the residents happiness, prosperity, and good health, recognising their humility and hard work as the state’s true strength.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami described the day as a ‘silver jubilee of struggle, values, and dedication’.
He also paid tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for his visionary leadership that led to Uttarakhand’s creation, saying, “His farsightedness and sensitive leadership gave Devbhoomi a new identity.”
Dhami highlighted the achievements of the double-engine government, noting significant progress in connectivity, infrastructure, tourism, industry, education, health, and women’s empowerment.
He further emphasised that the state’s development model balances environmental conservation with economic growth and positions Uttarakhand among the top-performing states in the Sustainable Development Goals Index.
He also credited initiatives like the Char Dham Yatra, Kanwar Yatra, and temple redevelopment projects for giving Uttarakhand ‘a new identity’ in spiritual tourism.
The Chief Minister added that the state has secured industrial investments worth ₹3.5 lakh crore, with over ₹1 lakh crore already realised.
Extending his greetings, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath posted on X, “Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the residents of Uttarakhand on the Foundation Day of the sacred land of mythological traditions. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, this state is becoming empowered, secure, and prosperous.”
Further, he concluded his message with a prayer to Baba Kedarnath, wishing for the continuous progress of what he called the ‘Crown Jewel of India’.
As Uttarakhand celebrates 25 years of formation, the day stands as a testament to its enduring spirit—rooted in devotion, strengthened by progress, and inspired by a collective vision for a brighter future.
