Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Uttarakhand on the occasion of the state’s 25th Foundation Day, commending its rapid progress and deep cultural roots.
In a message on X, the Prime Minister wrote, “On the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Uttarakhand, I extend my heartfelt best wishes to all my brothers and sisters of the state. Nestled in the lap of nature, this divine land is today gaining a new pace of progress in every field along with tourism.” He also prayed for the happiness, prosperity, and good health of the “humble, hardworking, and divine-like people of Uttarakhand.”
Uttarakhand, often called Devbhoomi (the Land of the Gods), was formed on 9 November 2000 after being carved out of Uttar Pradesh, becoming India’s 27th state.
The silver jubilee celebration marks a significant milestone in the state’s journey from a people’s movement to a model of inclusive and sustainable development.
Across the country, leaders paid tribute to the state’s resilience and growth. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami described the day as a ‘silver jubilee of struggle, values, and dedication’.
He paid homage to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, under whose leadership Uttarakhand was created, saying, “His farsighted and sensitive leadership gave Devbhoomi a new identity.”
Highlighting the accomplishments of the ‘double-engine government’, Dhami said that Uttarakhand has achieved remarkable progress in connectivity, infrastructure, industry, tourism, education, healthcare, and women’s empowerment.
Moreover, he emphasised that the state’s development model balances ‘environmental conservation and progress’, positioning Uttarakhand among the leading states in the Sustainable Development Goals Index.
Dhami also lauded tourism initiatives such as the Char Dham Yatra, Kanwar Yatra, and temple redevelopment projects that have enhanced the state’s spiritual and economic identity.
He revealed that the state has secured industrial investments worth ₹3.5 lakh crore, with over ₹1 lakh crore already realised.
Extending his wishes, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath posted on X, “Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the residents of Uttarakhand on the Foundation Day of the sacred land of mythological traditions.”
He further praised the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Dhami, noting that the state is becoming ’empowered, secure, and prosperous’.
Yogi Adityanath also offered prayers to Baba Kedarnath, wishing continued progress for what he called the ‘Crown Jewel of India’.
As Uttarakhand completes 25 years of its formation, the occasion stands as a tribute to its evolution — from a movement rooted in people’s aspirations to a shining example of balanced development, faith, and modernity.
