EaseMyTrip chairman Nishant Pitti has raised concerns over Chinese-owned travel apps, calling them a threat to national security. He issued the warning in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, sharing screenshots to support his claim.
The screenshots revealed that Indian armed forces personnel are booking discounted air tickets by entering their defence IDs on certain platforms.

Defence Travel Data at Risk
Nishant Pitti warned that this process could expose sensitive information like travel dates and destinations of Indian soldiers to Chinese companies. This could lead to a major security breach.
He said, “Our enemies can know where our soldiers are going. This flaw has to be fixed immediately.” The screenshots showed discounts applicable to armed forces personnel, their families, and war widows. A valid ID is required to avail of the concession.
The post has triggered a storm on social media. Many users have demanded urgent government intervention. They labelled Chinese-linked travel apps as potential security threats.
Some suggested that while concessions for armed forces should continue, they must be provided through a more secure mechanism.
This development has raised serious concerns over national security and the privacy of defence personnel data. Nishant Pitti has earlier appealed to Indians not to travel to countries like Turkey and Azerbaijan, citing similar concerns.
