DK Shivakumar Faces Police Case Over ‘Water for Votes’ Video

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is facing legal action after allegedly violating the model code of conduct during the Lok Sabha election campaign. The case stems from a video in which the Congress leader purportedly promised Bengaluru voters water from the Cauvery River if they supported his brother, DK Suresh, a candidate in Bangalore Rural.

In the video, which circulated on social media, Shivakumar allegedly referred to his visit to a housing society in his brother’s constituency as a “business deal” and linked water supply to voting for his brother.

The Election Commission deemed his speech a breach of the model code, leading to the registration of a police case for alleged bribery and undue influence in elections.
