The revised rules will regulate the entry of vehicles based on their emission standards.
Authorities will allow BS-VI-compliant, compressed natural gas (CNG) and electric vehicles, along with exempted vehicles, subject to applicable regulations.
The restrictions will cover vehicles that fail to meet BS-VI emission standards or lack a valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC). Non-compliant interstate buses will face entry restrictions.
Trucks not bound for Delhi must use peripheral expressways, while restrictions will cover tractors, jugad vehicles and certain out-of-state vehicles.
The traffic police urged commuters to check vehicle eligibility and follow advisories, sharing helpline numbers 011-25844444 and 1095.
The restrictions aim to curb rising pollution across Delhi-NCR.
The Northern Range Traffic Police registered three FIRs against commercial vehicle operators for allegedly using fake No Entry Permissions (NEPs) during an enforcement drive on October 27.
The drive, directed by DCP (Traffic) Dr Sachin Kumar Singhal, aimed to check vehicles and enforce Stage I GRAP rules.
Police caught three commercial vehicles allegedly using forged permits and registered FIRs under Sections 318(2) and 340(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The action, however, followed CAQM’s October 21 decision to invoke Stage I of GRAP after Delhi’s air quality slipped into the ‘Poor’ category.
