Delhi Schools To Reopen From Tomorrow, Amid Fog No Classes Before 9 am

As the extended winter break comes to an end, Delhi schools will resume physical classes on Monday, January 15. However, an order issued on Sunday stated that due to the current foggy conditions, no school, not even double-shift schools, will meet before 9 a.m. or after 5 p.m. The directive stated that all employees, both teaching and non-teaching, must report for duty as normal.

Due to the ongoing cold wave in the nation’s capital, Delhi Education Minister Atishi announced on January 7 that winter break would be extended until January 12. Atishi tweeted, “Schools in Delhi will remain closed for the next 5 days due to the prevailing cold weather conditions, for students from nursery to class 5.”

It was unclear if the winter break would be prolonged for a few more days as Delhi’s temperature dropped, making the fog situation worse in the morning.

With a low of 3.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday, Delhi saw its coldest morning on record. It was 3.6 degrees Celsius on Saturday and 3.9 degrees Celsius on Friday.
