Delhi Metro restored entry, exit and interchange facilities across its network on Monday evening after imposing temporary security restrictions at six central Delhi stations.

Delhi Metro Reopens All Stations After Security Restrictions Amid Protests

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) reopened all stations on Monday evening after temporarily restricting access to six stations in central Delhi over security concerns linked to planned protests.

In a post on X around 5 PM, the DMRC announced, “Entry and exit gates of all Metro Stations of the Delhi Metro network are now open. The interchange facility at all the concerned Metro stations is also available.”

Earlier, the Corporation had suspended entry and exit facilities at Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Patel Chowk, Janpath, Mandi House and Barakhamba Road from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on October 12.

The Congress-led INDIA bloc had planned a protest march towards the Supreme Court, prompting security agencies to review arrangements around central Delhi.

The DMRC issued an advisory during the day, stating, “Due to security reasons, Metro stations on the Delhi Metro network are being temporarily closed intermittently. Regular updates on these closures as well as re-openings are being provided on DMRC’s official social media channels and the official website.”

The Corporation said security agencies would assess the situation and issue further updates as required. Interchange facilities remained available at all six affected stations throughout the restrictions.

Monday’s restrictions came two days after authorities temporarily closed 45 Metro stations in view of a protest organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).

The latest restoration means commuters can now use entry, exit and interchange facilities across the Delhi Metro network.
