Delhi High Court Issues Notice To ED On Kejriwal's Petition
The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in response to a petition filed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is currently incarcerated in Tihar Jail. Kejriwal’s petition pertains to the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam case. The court has scheduled the next hearing for July 15 and has sought a reply from the ED.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, seeking relief, had approached the court requesting permission for additional video conferencing meetings with his legal counsel. The court, presided over by Justice Neena Bansal Krishna, had initially allowed Kejriwal two meetings per week with his lawyers, a provision which Kejriwal has sought to expand through his recent petition.

Kejriwal is under investigation by the ED in connection with allegations of money laundering related to the Delhi liquor policy. The Aam Aadmi Party has accused its rivals of manipulating the policy during their tenure to benefit certain individuals, allegedly in exchange for funds used in elections. Concurrently, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing allegations of bribery and corruption surrounding the same policy.
The excise policy in question was repealed in 2022 following orders from the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, who had directed the CBI to investigate reported irregularities and corruption.
Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21, 2024, in connection with the alleged liquor scam but was subsequently granted interim bail on May 10 to facilitate his participation in election campaigning.
