In a recent incident in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, terrorists attacked an Indian army vehicle on Monday, resulting in the tragic loss of four soldiers’ lives and injuries to six others. Following the attack, soldiers retaliated, leading to an encounter in the area. Additional reinforcements were swiftly deployed. During the gunbattle, two army soldiers were also injured, according to police reports.
Officials confirmed that the bodies of two terrorists were recovered from the Modergam encounter site, while four more were found at the Chinnigam site on Sunday, as reported by PTI.
Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP), RR Swain, hailed the neutralization of a significant number of terrorists as a major achievement. He emphasized that these operations underscored the effectiveness of security measures and community involvement in providing critical intelligence.
Brigadier Prithviraj Chauhan, Commander 1sec RR, told ANI that the successful operation in South Kashmir dealt a significant blow to Hizbul-Mujahideen.

Meanwhile, the Indian Army paid tribute to Lance Naik Pardeep Kumar and Sepoy Pravin Janjal Prabhakar, who made the ultimate sacrifice during anti-terror operations in Kulgam on July 6, 2024. The Chinar Corps Commander, along with other dignitaries, honored their service and bravery.
