Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday commended India’s armed forces for their successful execution of ‘Operation Sindoor’. The operation targeted and dismantled terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Speaking at the National Quality Conclave at DRDO, Singh expressed immense pride in the operation, stating, “It is a matter of pride for us.”
He confirmed that nine terrorist camps were destroyed during the operation, with a significant number of terrorists eliminated.
The Defence Minister asserted, “I congratulate the armed forces for the action they took yesterday and the courage and bravery they showed. Terror camps in Pakistan and PoK have been neutralised, it is a matter of pride for us.”
Singh praised the precision of the operation, noting, “The precision with which ‘Operation Sindoor’ was executed is unimaginable, very praiseworthy. Nine terrorist camps were destroyed in it, and a significant number of terrorists were killed. This operation was carried out without harming any innocents and with minimum collateral damage.”
‘Operation Sindoor’, which took place on the morning of 7 May, involved coordinated strikes using long-range, high-precision weapons.
The assault successfully targeted nine sites, both in PoK and deep inside Pakistan.
According to sources, over 100 terrorists were killed in the early-morning strikes, with the operation still underway, making it difficult to provide an exact count of casualties.
The operation was launched as a direct response to the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 individuals.
Following the strikes, Indian military targets in northern and western India were engaged using drones and missiles. These targets included cities like Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, and Amritsar.
These targets were neutralised by India’s Integrated Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Grid and Air Defence systems.
Sources confirmed that the Indian Air Force’s S-400 Sudarshan Chakra air defence missile systems successfully intercepted moving targets heading towards India during the night.
While an official government confirmation is awaited, domain experts stated that the targets were effectively neutralised.
In a continued response, the Indian Armed Forces also targeted air defence radars and systems across various locations in Pakistan this morning.
Notably, an air defence system in Lahore was reportedly neutralised as part of these operations.
