The court allowed the 22-year-old electrical engineering student of Jamia Millia Islamia University to appear for the examination in Tihar jail as per the examination schedule prescribed by the university. He is in jail under UAPA.
Patiala House Court Principal District and Sessions Judge Sanjay Garg gave relief to Mohsin Mohammad. He was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) last year from Batla House area of the city.
The NIA arrested Ahmed alleging that it had received information that he was actively engaged in raising funds for ISIS. The court accepted Ahmed’s application, which included a B.Tech (Electrical Engineering) course at Jamia Millia Islamia University. Permission was sought to appear for the seventh semester examination.

The counsel appearing for the university said that the university will deploy Teacher in the jail premises during the conduct of the examination as per the examination schedule. The court directed that an authorized observer of the university, whose credentials will be shared with the Tihar Jail Superintendent, will visit the jail on scheduled dates i.e. December 8, December 11, December 13, December 15, December 18 and December 20.
The Jail Superintendent will ensure that the accused is facilitated to appear for the examination in a room or library where there is complete peace and conducive environment.
