Congress party is set to unveil its manifesto for the forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024 on April 5th. Anticipated to center around ‘Paanch Nyays’ – the five pillars of justice conceptualized by former party president Rahul Gandhi during his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, the manifesto launch will be led by party president Mallikarjun Kharge and former president Rahul Gandhi at the All India Congress Committee Headquarters in New Delhi.

On April 6, Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul, and Priyanka Gandhi are scheduled to showcase the manifesto during public rallies in Jaipur and Hyderabad, emphasizing its key points to the electorate.”Since 1926 till date, the Congress Manifesto is a solemn document of the inseparable trust between us and the people of India,” Kharge said in a post on X on Friday.
‘Paanch Nyay’
The manifesto is anticipated to center around ‘Paanch Nyays’ or the five pillars of justice, namely ‘Yuva Nyay’, ‘Naari Nyay’, ‘Kisaan Nyay’, ‘Shramik Nyay’, and ‘Hissedari Nyay’, initially introduced during Rahul’s Bharat Jodo Yatra.
The party has already introduced several components of this vision, such as ‘Kisan Nyay’ promising a legal guarantee for minimum support price (MSP), ‘Hissedari Nyay’ ensuring a share in governance, ‘Yuva Nyay’ aiming to provide mandatory apprenticeship and income for youth, ‘Nari Nyay’ addressing issues pertinent to women, and ‘Shramik Nyay’ catering to the welfare of laborers.

Axe on PMLA, CAA?
In its manifesto, the Congress is reportedly considering the elimination of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, a significant move given the act’s expanded scope during the Congress-led UPA government and further strengthening by the Narendra Modi-led BJP government through amendments in 2015 and 2019. Additionally, sources indicate that the manifesto may address the issue of reservation for Other Backward Categories (OBCs) in private higher educational institutions and private universities, aligning with the party’s stance on advocating for a national caste census to facilitate OBC reservation based on population.
Furthermore, it is expected that the Congress will pledge to repeal the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, along with the three laws aimed at replacing the Indian Penal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and the Evidence Act.
