UP CM Yogi Adityanath has emphasised that the state’s MSME units must continuously update themselves in line with evolving market demands.
Reviewing the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) department on Tuesday, he issued clear directives aimed at enhancing entrepreneurship, boosting exports, and creating employment opportunities.
CM Yogi highlighted that Uttar Pradesh houses the largest base of MSMEs in India, with around 9.6 million active units.
These enterprises contribute approximately 46% to the state’s total exports and provide employment to over 16.5 million people directly and indirectly.
He acknowledged their role in driving local economic activity and acting as anchor units for large-scale industries.
He directed that MSMEs be strategically empowered to realise the vision of ‘Vocal for Local’, ‘Local to Global’, and ‘Brand UP’.
CM Yogi emphasised UP’s global potential in traditional crafts, agri-products, and innovation.
Officials told the CM that in FY 2023-24, over 3.21 lakh youths registered under CM YUVA, with 56,000+ loan applications received.
CM Yogi instructed authorities to ensure high-quality, structured training for selected candidates before loan disbursal.
He stressed timely coordination with banks to meet the annual loan distribution target of 100,000 beneficiaries.
The Chief Minister reviewed the Vishwakarma Yojana, noting a rise in trained artisans from 7,600 in 2018-19 to over 75,000 in 2023-24.
He instructed officials to widen the scheme’s coverage and maintain high training standards.
CM Yogi praised the flat factory model, noting its successful implementation in Kanpur for multi-unit operations in limited space.
He directed the expansion of this model to other cities and encouraged private sector participation.
Under the Mukhyamantri Swarojgar Yojana, the government processed 31,000+ applications, disbursed ₹760 crore, and created 250,000 jobs.
CM Yogi urged officials to expand the scheme’s reach to rural and backwards regions.
Since 2018, the government has given ₹635 crore in margin money and trained lakhs in marketing, design, and technical skills.
The Chief Minister stressed improving ODOP packaging, design, and branding for global competitiveness.
Officials informed him that UP leads the nation with 77 products having Geographical Indication (GI) tags.
Applications for 25 more are underway, and the state aims to tag 75 additional products in the current fiscal year.
