In a touching display of solidarity, Chief Justice of India, D Y Chandrachud, along with other esteemed Supreme Court judges, gathered in the judges’ lounge to honor Pragya, a remarkable law researcher. Despite facing formidable challenges, Pragya, the daughter of a humble court cook, has soared to remarkable heights, securing scholarships for her master’s in law studies at either the University of California or the University of Michigan in the US.
With palpable pride and admiration, the judges bestowed upon Pragya a standing ovation, acknowledging her resilience and determination. Justice Chandrachud, symbolizing the court’s support, presented Pragya with three books on the Indian Constitution, signed by all the judges, as a token of encouragement.
“While Pragya has achieved this feat through her efforts, we are committed to ensuring she receives the necessary support. We anticipate her return to contribute to our nation,” remarked Chandrachud, underlining the court’s faith in her potential. Other judges echoed similar sentiments, extending their best wishes for her future endeavors.

In a heartfelt gesture, shawls were offered to Pragya’s parents, Mr. Ajay Kumar Samal and his wife, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support. The couple, visibly moved by the recognition, radiated with pride and thankfulness.
Pragya, visibly touched by the court’s gesture, expressed her admiration for Justice Chandrachud, describing him as an inspiration. “His advocacy for young lawyers and his eloquence during court proceedings are invaluable. He embodies the ideals I aspire to,” she conveyed with gratitude.
For Pragya, who once faced daunting odds, her dreams have now taken flight, propelled by the encouragement and support of the judiciary.
