Ahead of the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, a few cities’ banks will be closed, as per the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) 2024 vacation schedule. On election day, several states have already announced paid holidays or public holidays for their citizens.
Bank holidays in India are divided into three groups by the Reserve Bank of India: holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, holidays observed in real-time gross settlement, and holidays associated with closing bank accounts.
The banks in the aforementioned cities will stay closed, although customers can still access online banking services. For rapid transactions, people can use ATMs, smartphone applications, or the banks’ websites to manage their banking needs.
The following list of cities shows which ones will have their banks closed on April 26, 2024, the day of the general elections.
In 2024, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday schedule for Bangalore, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, and Jammu will have bank closures in Phase 2 of the general elections in 2024.
The results of the 2024 Lok Sabha Election are expected to be made public on June 4, 2024. The first phase of the election started on April 19. The next election cycles are set for June 1, 2024, May 7, May 13, May 20, and May 25. The RBI may announce bank holidays in accordance with each state’s and city’s election day.
