CID files new case against TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu over “illegal permissions” to alcohol companies

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Andhra Pradesh filed a new case on Monday against Chandrababu Naidu, the leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), on the grounds that he is suspected of giving “illegal permissions” to alcohol companies operating in the state.

Chandrababu Naidu is the third accused in this case, which comes under the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court received a formal petition from the CID, and the court approved the CID’s action. This is the CID’s fourth case against the TDP leader.

Naidu is presently being held in judicial custody at the Rajamahendravaram central prison on charges of embezzlement pertaining to the Skill Development Corporation. The state treasury is said to have lost more than Rs 300 crore as a result of these accusations.

The Telugu Desam Party chief’s three bail petitions in several CID cases were denied by the High Court earlier in the day. In the cases involving the Angallu attack and the Amaravati Inner Ring Road, Naidu had petitioned the court for regular bail as well as anticipatory bail in the FiberNet case.
