Recent incidents of violence, including murder, loot, rape, gang rape, and dacoity, have sparked widespread outrage and concern. Of particular note was the murder of Jitan Sahani, father of VIP chief Mukesh Sahani, which has shaken both the state and the nation.

Key officials including Chief Secretary Brajesh Melhotra, Director General of Police R.S. Bhatti, and other senior Bihar Police officials attended the meeting. District Magistrates, Senior Superintendents of Police, and Superintendents of Police participated via video conferencing.

DIAL 112

The DGP briefed the Chief Minister on the preventive measures undertaken by the police department to tackle crime. He highlighted the efficacy of the DIAL 112 emergency service in combating criminal activities and presented data indicating a decrease in the overall crime rate.

District officials provided insights into the preventive measures implemented locally to deter crime, noting substantial reductions in organized criminal activities across various regions of the state.

Meanwhile, Janardan Singh Sigriwal, BJP’s Maharajganj MP, acknowledged Bihar’s governance achievements but suggested considering police encounters as an option if crime incidents persist. “While police arrests are commendable, encounters could be necessary if the situation demands,” he remarked.

Moreover, the meeting underscored the Bihar government’s commitment to enhancing public safety and restoring confidence in law enforcement amid ongoing challenges posed by criminal activities.
