In a dramatic turn of events, Raj Bhavan in Kolkata has accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of orchestrating allegations of sexual harassment against West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose. A statement released by the Governor’s office on Friday evening alleges that the charges are part of a calculated move by the Chief Minister, involving significant expenditure on legal resources.
According to the statement, Raj Bhavan contends that the Chief Minister is waging a proxy war, utilizing public funds to engage high-profile lawyers. Despite these tactics, the Governor remains steadfast and vows to continue his campaign against corruption and violence allegedly perpetuated by Mamata Banerjee.

The statement reveals that immediately following the emergence of the “fabricated allegations” post-May 2, an internal judicial inquiry was initiated, overseen by a retired judge. Preliminary findings from this independent inquiry reportedly indicate that the complainant spent considerable time at a police office within Raj Bhavan premises before being escorted away in a police vehicle.
Furthermore, the statement highlights media reports concerning a leaked video purportedly filmed inside the Raj Bhavan police office, allegedly showing collusion between the complainant, unidentified individuals, and police personnel. It suggests that the Kolkata Police played a facilitative role in scripting the accusations against the Governor.
In light of these developments, Raj Bhavan asserts that the complainant was coerced into providing a false narrative, which was then recorded and leaked to the press by police stationed at the North Gate police outpost.
The unfolding controversy has heightened tensions between the Governor’s office and the Chief Minister, underscoring deeper political rifts within West Bengal’s administration.
