Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan emphasized that farmers should adopt natural farming methods. He said, “Grow fruits, vegetables, and food that are like nectar for the body. Production, along with quality, can be increased without the use of chemical fertilizers. It is believed that production will not increase without chemical fertilizers, but that’s not true. In the first and second years, the production requirement is less, but from the third year onwards, production starts improving.”
Speaking at the “Indian Natural Farming Method” event on Friday in Lucknow at the Centrum Hotel, Singh highlighted, “We will not let production decline and will fill the country’s grain stores. Today, the world is concerned about global warming. Production has increased significantly due to the use of chemical fertilizers. However, fruits, vegetables, and grains are being produced in abundance, but are they edible? All insect friends are gone, and earthworms are not visible. If this trend continues, this earth will not be suitable for future generations to live on. Therefore, there is a need to be alert in time. If the earth survives, we will survive.”
Fiscal incentive to promote natural farming
He added, “When India’s vegetables, fruits, and grains become famous worldwide, our farmers will be happy. Earlier, farmers worshiped before farming. Today, there is no connection with Mother Earth; only selfishness remains. There is a need to make farmers aware of natural farming. Farmers should start using natural farming, and we will work on training them. To encourage natural farming, we will deposit some money directly into their accounts for three years. Natural farming will use less water, and save the cost of fertilizers and chemicals will.”

Singh concluded, emphasizing the importance of preserving the earth for future generations: “If the earth survives, we will survive.”

On the occasion, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, Minister of State for Agriculture Baldev Singh Aulakh, Ladakh Executive Councilor for Agriculture Stanzin Chosphel, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh, Agriculture Production Commissioner Dr. Devesh Chaturvedi, and Vice-Chancellors of various universities, experts, and progressive farmers were in attendance.
