Uganda Vice President Jessica Alupo landed in New Delhi on Friday to attend the 18th BRICS Summit. Union Minister of State Jayant Singh welcomed the Ugandan Vice President at the airport.
The Ministry of External Affairs described India and Uganda as friendly partners with longstanding historical connections. It said both countries continue to strengthen their relationship through growing cooperation at bilateral and multilateral levels.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa also arrived in the national capital earlier on Friday for the summit. Jayant Singh received him at the airport as visiting leaders began reaching New Delhi.
The MEA highlighted the historic relationship between India and South Africa and their Strategic Partnership. It further stressed their continued commitment to advancing cooperation among countries of the Global South through BRICS.

India will conduct the 18th BRICS Summit on September 12 and 13 as the grouping’s Chair for 2026.
The meeting will bring together leaders from BRICS member and partner nations as well as countries invited for outreach.
The MEA said the summit will enable leaders to consider ways to enhance cooperation on shared priorities. The discussions will cover important regional and international matters of common interest.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said leaders from different parts of the world would assemble in New Delhi for the summit. He expressed optimism that the high-level meeting would generate constructive discussions with global welfare at its core.
Bharat Mandapam underwent final preparations on Thursday ahead of the international gathering.
The venue will host visiting leaders and representatives during the September 12-13 summit.
The official BRICS Summit account said Delhi was putting the finishing touches in place as the capital prepared to welcome participants for the high-profile meeting.
