India will convene the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 12 and 13 as the grouping’s Chair for 2026.
The two-day event will bring together leaders representing BRICS members, partner nations and outreach invitees.
The MEA said the summit will provide leaders with an opportunity to explore stronger cooperation on shared priorities.
Discussions will cover important regional and international developments affecting participating countries.
Ramaphosa’s office said Pretoria intends to use the summit to advance its diplomatic and economic objectives.
South Africa will particularly seek greater trade and investment among BRICS members while promoting industrialisation and value addition.
The country plans to encourage investment in African infrastructure while aligning such efforts with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Ramaphosa is scheduled to participate in the BRICS Business Forum Leaders’ Dialogue alongside business representatives from participating countries.
The discussions will examine trade and supply chains, agriculture, women-led development, digital economy initiatives and innovation.
Representatives of South Africa’s BRICS Business Council and BRICS Women’s Business Alliance will join the forum. Their participation will aim to expand commercial links and identify fresh avenues for investment and economic collaboration.
The summit will therefore give South Africa a platform to advance its economic agenda while deepening engagement with BRICS partners and strengthening broader Global South cooperation.
