Boyfriend Kills Live In Partner For Insisting To Marry Her In Maharashtra, Arrested

The live-in boyfriend of a 22-year-old lady allegedly strangled her because she insisted on getting married in the Palghar region of Maharashtra. Days later, according to an official, police in West Bengal detained the accused.

According to police on Friday, the woman’s decomposing body was discovered in a room they had rented in Dahanu town, Palghar district, on March 15, which revealed the murder.

According to a police officer, the victim and the 26-year-old accused, Minazuddin Abdul Ajij Mulla, also known as Ravindra Reddy, were taken into custody on March 22 in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas area.

Senior police official Balasaheb Patil said, “The woman, Anisha Barasta Khatun, was found dead on March 15 in a room located in a chawl at Dahanu where she lived with her live-in partner, who was untraceable. The police sent her body for post-mortem and initially registered a case of accidental death.”

He further added, “However, the autopsy report confirmed that the death was caused by strangulation. After that, it was converted into a case of murder.”

He said that Ankita Kanse, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dahanu division), headed the investigating team.

According to another officer, the accused Mulla revealed that in order to rent a room that he took the identity Ravindra Reddy and told the victim was his wife during the investigation.

The owner was notified of the crime when the room’s neighbors complained about an unpleasant smell coming from it. The owner opened the door after hearing nothing from inside the room, to discover the woman’s dead body laying there. He stated they called the cops right away.

To find and apprehend the culprits, a police squad was sent to West Bengal. He continued, “They arrested Mulla in the early hours of March 22 after seven days of relentless efforts.”

According to Additional Superintendent of Police Pankaj Shirsat, despite knowing the fact that the accused was reluctant, the victim insisted him to marry her.

Mulla was arrested and placed under police custody till April 2 by a Palghar court, he added.
