In a shocking incident, assailants brutally attacked Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) state vice president Rohit Mishra late Thursday in the Balrampur House area of Mumfordganj.
According to eyewitnesses, two youths armed with sharp weapons and riding in a Safari SUV chased and assaulted Mishra.
The assailants attempted to run over Mishra with the vehicle and even tried to kidnap him.
The attackers fled the scene when local residents began to gather, preventing further harm.
The incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Colonelganj police station.
Rohit Mishra, who has also served as the president of the Allahabad University Student Union, sustained a head injury during the attack and received immediate medical treatment.
A formal complaint has been lodged at the Colonelganj police station.
The police have registered a case against the unknown attackers and launched an investigation into the incident.
