The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall across several regions of India over the next 4-5 days.
Northwest India, including Delhi, and Northeastern states are likely to experience significant precipitation during this period.
On Saturday, IMD announced that the Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into parts of East Uttar Pradesh and additional areas of West Uttar Pradesh.
The monsoon’s northern limit now stretches through key locations including Jaisalmer and Churu in Rajasthan, Delhi, Aligarh, and Jammu.
Looking ahead, IMD has indicated favorable conditions for the monsoon’s progression into more areas, including West Rajasthan, Haryana-Chandigarh, Punjab, West Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu within the next 2-3 days.
Specifically, the weather bulletin forecasts isolated heavy rainfall over various states and regions from 29 June to 3 July.
These include Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and East Rajasthan.
West Rajasthan is likely to experience heavy rainfall on 29 June, 2 July, and 3 July, while Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Bihar will likely see heavy showers during specific periods outlined in the bulletin.
IMD also anticipates widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms across Northwest, Central, and East India over the next five days.
Additionally, regions such as Kerala, Karnataka, Konkan and Goa, Gujarat, and Madhya Maharashtra are expected to experience moderate rainfall, with isolated to scattered showers predicted over other areas like Marathwada, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, and Telangana during the same period.
Further, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are likely to witness widespread light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms, lightning, and isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next five days.

IMD advises travelers to anticipate traffic disruptions and increased travel time due to waterlogged roads and reduced visibility. Vulnerable structures may also face potential damage.
IMD urges travelers to check for traffic updates and avoid routes prone to waterlogging issues.
They also recommend staying updated with local weather forecasts and advisories to ensure safety during this period of heightened rainfall activity across the country.
