Political Responses

Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) chief Upendra Kushwaha expressed optimism about the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) prospects, predicting a decisive victory.

“People are voting for the NDA in numbers exceeding our expectations. Reports from across Bihar indicate a clear trend in NDA’s favour,” Kushwaha told reporters.

He further remarked that opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav’s confident statements were aimed at maintaining morale among Mahagathbandhan workers ahead of the second phase.

The first phase of polling began at 7 AM across 121 constituencies in 18 districts, covering nearly 3.75 crore eligible voters. Polling will conclude at 6 PM, with timings shortened to 5 PM in certain areas for security reasons.

Moreover, Prominent candidates contesting in this phase include RJD’s Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, JD(U) leaders Shravan Kumar and Vijay Kumar Choudhary, BJP’s Samrat Choudhary and Mangal Pandey, and Tej Pratap Yadav of the RJD.

Leaders Cast Their Votes

Bihar Assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav cast his vote at a polling booth in Patna Sahib and urged citizens to participate actively.

“This is the festival of democracy. I appeal to everyone to vote in large numbers to form a good government in Bihar,” he said.

Extensive security measures have been deployed to ensure peaceful voting. The polling process has been smooth so far, with electronic voting machines (EVMs) functioning without major issues.

In the 2020 Assembly elections, Bihar witnessed a three-phase polling process. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) had won 125 seats, while the opposition Mahagathbandhan (MGB) secured 110.

The BJP claimed 74 seats, the JD(U) 43, the RJD 75, and the Congress 19.

The 2025 elections mark a crucial contest as the NDA seeks to retain power amid strong opposition from the Mahagathbandhan alliance.
