Lt Governor Manoj Sinha Leads Tribute To Sardar Patel In Srinagar

The Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST-K) organised a grand and spirited event under the theme ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ at the Shalimar Convention Centre to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha presided over the event, while Bharat Bharti and SKUAST-K jointly organised it in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

The celebration highlighted Sardar Patel’s lifelong dedication to national integration, public service, and unity. Organisers honoured several distinguished personalities for their exceptional contributions to society and the nation.

Among the awardees was Irfan Ali Shah (IFS), Conservator of Forests, North Kashmir, recognised for his outstanding work in environmental conservation, afforestation, and public service.

The organisers commended renowned Santoor maestro Abhay Sopori, Advocate Tabassum Rahim Sibgat, Additional Advocate General Sardar Satyendra Singh Kala, and Dr Latif Khan for their contributions in their respective fields.

In his address, Lieutenant Governor Sinha remarked that Sardar Patel’s vision of a united and strong India continues to guide the nation.

He further praised Bharat Bharti for promoting cultural harmony and national unity across the country. The LG extended congratulations to the award recipients, describing them as true embodiments of Patel’s ideals.

Cultural Performances Celebrate India’s Diversity

The highlight of the event was a series of vibrant cultural performances by students representing 22 Indian states.

However, through dance, music, and art, they vividly depicted the theme of ‘Unity in Diversity – Celebrating Cultures, Connecting Hearts’.

Dignitaries, including Bharat Bharti’s National Organising Secretary Jagannath Kunj Bihari Swain, Dr Nazir Ahmad Ganie (Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-K), Dr Sajjad Ahmad Gangu (Dean, Student Welfare), and members of various foundations and social organisations, attended the gathering.

Concluding the event, Mohammad Irfan Ahmad, North India In-charge of Bharat Bharti, reaffirmed his commitment to advancing national unity and cultural harmony inspired by Sardar Patel’s ideals.
