Bharat Express Chairman Upendrra Rai during his address at the 'Indian Journalism Festival'
Upendrra Rai, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of Bharat Express, participated in the ‘Bharatiya Patrakarita Mahotsav’ held in Indore, Madhya Pradesh today. During the event’s discussion session on Sunday evening, he shared his thoughts on ‘India’s future and media’. Upendrra Rai expressed his deep association with the Indore Press Club and its events over the years, highlighting his longstanding connection with the city.
Reflecting on the occasion, Upendrra Rai narrated a story about Swami Ramatirtha, a renowned saint and mathematics teacher, known for his wisdom. Upendrra Rai recounted an incident involving Swami Ramatirtha’s encounter with an elderly man learning Mandarin on a ship bound for Japan. Amazed by the old man’s dedication to mastering the complex Chinese language despite his age, Swami Ramatirtha inquired about the purpose of learning such a difficult language. The old man humbly replied that he was learning it simply for the joy of learning, regardless of his age.
Drawing parallels to courage and resilience, Upendrra Rai spoke about the transformative power of bravery, emphasizing that despite historical burdens and familial responsibilities, individuals begin their journey towards bravery when they dare to dream and strive for a better future. He referenced former President Kalam’s vision for India in 2020, acknowledging the progress made though the goals set have not fully materialized.
Upendrra Rai also commended the initiatives like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and the call for a self-reliant India by Prime Minister Modi, acknowledging the government’s efforts in fostering national consciousness. He noted that achieving self-reliance after centuries of dependence is a gradual process, but affirmed that significant strides have been made.
Throughout his address, Upendrra Rai underscored the importance of media freedom and human rights, calling for continuous efforts to uphold these values in the country. His reflections at the event resonated with the audience, emphasizing the role of positivity and perseverance in shaping India’s future trajectory.
