Bengal Poll Campaign Heats Up With Packed Schedules For Key Leaders

With West Bengal heading into a crucial two-phase Assembly election, senior leaders from major parties have lined up multiple engagements across the state on Tuesday.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will likely take part in five campaign events, including four public meetings and a roadshow. His rallies will take place at Manikchak and Gazole in Malda district, Kaliaganj in Nadia district, and Gangarampur in South 24 Parganas. He will also lead a roadshow in South 24 Parganas.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will likely begin his campaign in the state with three public meetings.

As per the programme released by the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee, he will arrive at Purnia Airport in Bihar by special flight at 11:45 AM and travel by road to Raiganj in North Dinajpur, where he will address a rally at 12:30 PM. He will then speak at Chanchal in Malda at 2:55 PM, followed by another meeting at Samsernagar in Murshidabad at 3:30 PM.

Trinamool Congress supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will also address three rallies during the day, at Pingla in West Midnapore district, Tamluk in East Midnapore, and Jagatballavpur in Howrah.

Trinamool Congress general secretary and Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee will hold a roadshow in Cooch Behar and later address a public meeting at Maynaguri in Jalpaiguri district.

Campaign speeches are expected to focus on recent developments, including the arrest of Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) co-founder Vinesh Chandel by the Enforcement Directorate in New Delhi.

Responding to the development, Abhishek Banerjee said, “The arrest of Vinesh Chandel, co-founder of I-PAC, barely 10 days before the Bengal elections, is not just alarming- It shakes the very idea of a level playing field.”
