Ayodhya’s Muslim Community & Saints Back Waqf Board Amendment Bill

In a significant development, Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju introduced two critical amendment bills related to the Waqf Board Act in Parliament.

The bills have sparked intense debate, leading to a commotion in the Lok Sabha.

Despite the uproar, the amendments have received strong backing from both the Muslim community and Hindu religious leaders in Ayodhya.

Key Figures Back Waqf Board Amendments, Urge Swift Passage

Former Babri Masjid litigant Iqbal Ansari expressed his support for the amendments, emphasizing the importance of government oversight in the management of Waqf properties.

Ansari supported the bill, emphasizing that the government must oversee all properties under the Waqf Board effectively and address illegal encroachments promptly. He highlighted that donors intended these lands to aid the poor and stressed the need to fulfill this purpose.

Prominent religious figures in Ayodhya, including Mahant Raju Das of Hanumangarhi, also voiced their approval.

Mahant Raju Das expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that the bill is a welcome move. He further noted that the Waqf Board, established by Congress to appease a specific community, has long been a source of concern. With this amendment, he sees justice being served and mentioned that the saints and sages of Ayodhya are delighted by the legislation.

Chief Priest of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi, Acharya Satyendra Das, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the urgency of passing the bill.

Acharya Das remarked that the introduction of the Waqf Board Bill represents a positive step. He emphasized the need for swift enactment of this law to resolve issues related to Waqf properties, including temples unfairly controlled by the board, and asserted that the bill is crucial for the country’s well-being.

Ayodhya Municipal Corporation Mayor Mahat Girish Pati Tripathi also endorsed the bill, emphasizing its potential to dismantle the monopolistic control of lands and promote the welfare of the underprivileged.

Tripathi asserted that this legislation will end the Waqf Board’s monopoly over lands and pave the way for genuine welfare for the poor. He stressed the importance of passing the bill without delay.
