Manish Sisodia Bail: Former Delhi Deputy CM Released After 17 Months, Supreme Court Grants Bail

Manish Sisodia Bail: Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia walked out of Tihar Jail on Friday after 17 months behind bars. The Supreme Court granted him bail earlier in the day in both the CBI and ED cases related to the Delhi liquor policy scam.

Sisodia Addresses AAP Workers

After his release, Sisodia addressed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers and supporters. “Friends, I have received bail through the power of our country’s Constitution and democracy. I thank the Supreme Court from the bottom of my heart,” Sisodia said. He expressed confidence that this same democratic power would eventually secure the release of AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal from jail.

Sisodia to Visit Kejriwal’s Residence

Sources revealed that Sisodia plans to go directly to Arvind Kejriwal’s house after leaving Tihar Jail. He will meet Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal, and other family members. Tomorrow, Sisodia may visit Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

Background of the Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Manish Sisodia on February 26, 2023, in connection with a corruption case. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) later arrested him on March 9, 2023, in a money laundering case. On February 28, 2023, Sisodia resigned from his ministerial position. His lawyers repeatedly petitioned the courts for bail, but he secured it only today from the Supreme Court.
