Arvind Kejriwal is not in the race for the position of prime minister, according to Delhi Minister and AAP leader Atishi, who made this clarification on Wednesday. Atishi said that party spokeswoman Priyanka Kakkar endorsing Arvind Kejriwal as the opposition INDIA bloc’s prime ministerial candidate was her personal opinion.
The AAP leader’s comments come just before the INDIA alliance conference in Mumbai, when the opposition leaders are anticipated to work out their differences and develop a single campaign strategy to compete with the BJP-led NDA in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
As per India Today, “Aam Aadmi Party is associated with INDIA because today, there is a need to save India. There is a need to save the Constitution and democracy of this country. The AAP is not a part of this alliance because someone has to become the prime minister or a minister. We are part of this alliance only and only to save the country. Arvind Kejriwal is not the prime ministerial candidate,” Atishi said.
On Wednesday, Kakkar said, “As a spokesperson, I would propose our national convener Arvind Kejriwal’s name. “He has given a model that benefits the people. I would want it to happen but the decision is not in my hands.”
On August 31, members of the opposition INDIA group will gather in Mumbai for a two-day conclave. The opposition INDIA coalition is gathering for the first time in a state where none of the other bloc members are in office.
During the two-day summit in Mumbai beginning on August 31, the leaders are expected to consider a proposal to adopt the tricolor after removing Ashok Chakra as the flag of its alliance.
