He said it is a "very good budget that takes care of every segment of people and sector".
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal declared on Monday that the 2024-25 Budget of the Delhi government caters to every sector, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to the principles of “Ram Rajya”. He hailed the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana as possibly the largest initiative globally towards women’s empowerment.
Following the presentation of her inaugural Budget in the Assembly, Finance Minister Atishi, Kejriwal addressed a press conference, lauding it as comprehensive and inclusive. “The Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana stands out as one of the world’s most significant programs for women’s empowerment. Its implementation will commence post the Lok Sabha polls,” he announced.
The scheme promises a monthly stipend of ₹1,000 to every adult woman in Delhi. Kejriwal estimated its potential beneficiaries to reach around 45 to 50 lakh women, excluding income tax-paying individuals and those already benefiting from government schemes, out of Delhi’s approximately 67 lakh female voters.
Responding to queries about the reduction in the Budget outlay compared to the previous fiscal year, Kejriwal attributed it to the absence of any financial support from the central pool of taxes. “Previously, we received ₹325 crore, but even that has ceased now. It’s akin to strangling the goose that lays golden eggs,” he lamented. The Budget for the 2024-25 fiscal year is set at ₹76,000 crore, down from ₹78,800 crore in the previous financial year.

Atishi highlighted that their administration is unique in refraining from borrowing, except during the COVID-19 crisis.
